Lions Fans React to St. Brown Contract Report: 'Pay Him Already'

Is Amon-Ra St. Brown worth $28 million annually?

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is among the most popular athletes in Motown.

His fourth-round selection back in 2021 was among the best value draft picks the organization has ever made.

The former USC Trojans wideout embodies what the Lions organization wants to be about, and is reportedly in line to receive a massive contract extension.

Detroit's front office and coaching staff have openly discussed their "draft-and-develop" mantra.

Rewarding the 24-year-old with a massive contract extension is not in question, but the numbers being reported are approaching debatable numbers.

“You know them. And, it’s not just, ‘Oh, you drafted them, and you know them so even if they’re not performing well and they’re not meeting expectations that you just keep them,’" Lions general manager Brad Holmes expressed at the NFL combine. "No, it’s that you try your best to acquire the right players through the draft, and hopefully the goal is to develop. And then once they get to a point where they’re eligible to re-sign, you re-sign them and you feel really, really good about it.

“That’s why we always talk about how selective and strategic we do have to be in free agency, because you don’t really know these players. But, when you draft and you know your own guys, you feel a lot more comfortable.”

According to ESPN, "The Lions and Amon-Ra St. Brown have been working on an extension that some think could land in the range of $26-28 million per year."

While some expressed that elevated average annual salary is higher than expected, many took to social media to express that paying the talented wideout whatever he wants is more than acceptable.

Here is a sample of the reaction online to reports that St. Brown could earn $26-$28 million annually.
