What Colts Hiring New Head Coach Means for Lions, Aaron Glenn

In this story:
The Indianapolis Colts waited until the Philadelphia Eagles completed their 2022 NFL season in order to announce who would become their next coach.
On Tuesday, former Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen was hired as the next Colts head man, according to multiple reports.
Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn was in the running to potentially become the next Cardinals or Colts coach. He conducted interviews with both organizations, following the conclusion of Detroit's season.
For Glenn, it has been reported he is no longer in the running for the Cardinals position, indicating he will be on the sidelines running the defense for Detroit in 2023.
According to Sports Illustrated, "Over the summer, new Arizona GM Monti Ossenfort (with some help from his agent) came up with a list of 10 to 12 coaches that he'd wanted to get to know, so he'd have a solid list to work from in case he landed a GM job after the season. Three guys on that list wound up impressing him -- Bengals OC Brian Callahan, Lions DC Aaron Glenn and (Jonathan) Gannon."
With offensive coordinator Ben Johnson turning down opportunities to leave to become a head coach, Detroit will have the benefit of having both its coordinators from a season ago back in the mix.
Detroit head coach Dan Campbell is entering his third season in Motown, and with added expectations being levied upon the organization, having stability at the coordinator spots should ensure the team continues its ascent up the standings.
The Lions do not play the Colts in 2023.
