Carolina GM Dan Morgan Joins Chorus of Panthers Hinting at Bryce Young Extension

In this story:
Though there's really no urgency to get it done now, the Carolina Panthers are looking at extending Bryce Young. By the May 1 deadline, they will have, per GM Dan Morgan, picked up his fifth-year option, and they've been internally discussing an extension.
Those talks have not yet gone to Young's agents. For now, they remain internal between Morgan and executive Brandt Tilis. But those two, as well as Dave Canales, have all been saying basically the same thing.
It's a "when," not an "if" for Young's now inevitable extension.
Dan Morgan adds credence to Bryce Young extension rumors

An extension happening for Bryce Young right now would be a surprise. But this time next year, it would not at all be a surprise. It would be surprising if an extension didn't happen.
This is based on Young's career trajectory. He is so much better now than he was in 2023, and should that continue in 2026, the Panthers will have no choice but to pay up.
It's also based on the people on the team's comments. Dave Canales said they were building an offense for the future with Young in mind. Brandt Tilis said he operates three years from now with contracts, implying he's prepared for the Young extension.
Now, Dan Morgan has delivered his take, and it's much the same. He believes in Young and believes the QB is going to be here for the long run.
"Bryce is definitely our future. We have a ton of belief in him... We're building around him and what he does. He's just a special guy."

Sure sounds like Panthers GM Dan Morgan is working to keep Bryce Young in Carolina long-term 👀@_bryce_young | @Panthers | @heykayadams pic.twitter.com/FItocMXalI
Morgan said, "Bryce is definitely our future. We have a ton of belief in him. I think you can see by what we're... building around him and what he does. He's just this special guy."
The GM also praised Young's leadership and his ownership of the Panthers' offense. Morgan was part of the front office that drafted Young but was not the GM. Scott Fitterer was. Still, he agreed it is rewarding to see Young succeed now after having been involved in the pick.
"More so for him than for me, but obviously I'm reaping the benefits of him playing really well," Morgan said. "For somebody to get benched, come back, and be as resilient as he is. I just have so much respect for who he is."
When Kay Adams specifically asked whether or not the talks had transitioned from "if we extend Young" to "when we extend him," Morgan said, "Yeah. Those are things we're still talking through, and trying to figure out the timing on."
Morgan finished by reiterating that Young is the future, putting aside any doubt that they'll get some kind of deal done in the next year or so that keeps the former number one overall pick in black and blue for a long time.
