Report: Patriots Sign K Nick Folk

The New England Patriots have signed veteran kicker Nick Folk, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

The #Patriots are signing free agent K Nick Folk, source said. Most recently, he held the AAF record for longest field goal at 55 yards. He’s also played for the #Bucs, #Jets and #Cowboys.

As Rapoport mentions, Folk played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets during his NFL career. During his time with those teams, Folk had a combined 80.5% field goal percentage (245-of-305). He has been out of the league since 2017, and most recently played football for the Arizona Hotshots of the AAF.

New England cut Mike Nugent Tuesday afternoon, which foreshadowed the signing of another kicker. Nugent had made 5-of-8 field goals this season with the Patriots and 15-of-16 PATs. Two of his missed field goals came this past Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
