Raiders Highlight Nevada-Based Mental Health Programs

The Las Vegas Raiders Foundation hosted a Silver & Black Gala to highlight local mental health initiatives.

Maintaining strong mental health has become a priority in people’s everyday lives.

More and more people are becoming much more comfortable speaking out about their struggles with mental health, so more organizations are looking for ways to support those who are looking for help.

The Las Vegas Raiders, through the Raider Foundation, hosted their inaugural Silver & Black Gala on Saturday evening. The event was meant to highlight Nevada-based mental health initiatives and raise money for Legal Aid of Southern Nevada’s Resiliency & Justice Center. That facility provides resources for those who have been victims of trauma and violent crime.

The event was held at Wynn Las Vegas. It highlighted the need to focus on mental health challenges in the state of Nevada.

Several members of the Raiders’ organization were in attendance, including Raiders coach Antonio Pierce, President Sandra Douglass Morgan, owner Mark Davis, and multiple players, including quarterback Aidan O’Connell, guard Dylan Parham, linebacker Divine Deablo, and guard Jordan Meredith.

“We are immensely proud to stand alongside our community partners in this vital cause,” said Raiders Foundation executive director Kari Uyehara. “The generous contributions from tonight’s gala will enable us to expand our reach and provide critical support to those affected by mental health conditions in Nevada.”

Multiple musical guests were also present at the event. Grammy-winning musicians such as Anderson .Paak, David Foster, Babyface, and Andra Day performed for those in attendance.

The Raiders always look for ways to be involved in their community and help those off the field whenever possible. As mental health has become an ever-growing concern in our society, Raiders players, coaches, and front-office members alike help out however they can.

The Raiders and Raiders Foundation will continue to look for ways to support mental health initiatives in the community. Many NFL players have also recently spoken out about their mental health struggles and promoted ways for people to get help for whatever they may be going through.

The stigma around mental health has changed tremendously in recent years. Seeking help is no longer viewed as weak, and those outspoken about their struggles are no longer ostracized.

The Raiders spent an evening promoting positive mental health initiatives in Nevada and will likely continue to do so in the future.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
