NFL Draft Prospect QB Penix Jr. Visited with Raiders

Former University of Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. had a Top 30 visit with the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, quarterback Michael Penix Jr. visited the Las Vegas Raiders for a Top 30 visit, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The former University of Washington quarterback is of the best quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft class.

In his six years playing at the collegiate level, Penix completed 1,067 passes on 1,685 attempts for 13,741 yards and 96 touchdown passes, earning a quarterback rating of 146.6.

Penix played for two teams -- the Indiana Hoosiers and the Washington Huskies. He spent four seasons with the Hoosiers, throwing 342 completions on 576 attempts for 4,197 yards and 29 touchdown passes. He earned a quarterback rating of 132.

The young quarterback later transferred to Washington, where he spent two seasons, throwing 725 completions on 1,109 attempts for 9,544 yards and 67 touchdown passes. He earned a quarterback rating of 152.2.

Penix was a finalist for the 2023 Heisman Trophy. He finished his last collegiate season with 363 completions on 555 attempts for 4,903 attempts and 36 touchdown passes while earning a quarterback rating of 157.1.

Penix finished the 2023 college football season with an offensive grade of 91.1 from Pro Football Focus, a passing grade of 90.5, and a run grade of 67.9.

At this year's NFL Combine, Penix discussed meeting with the Silver and Black, as well as his thoughts on Raiders coach Antonio Pierce.

"Yeah, I did meet with them," Penix Jr. said. "I feel like that organization was doing many great things toward the end of the season. I know a lot of guys speak highly of Coach AP and the things that he can do. I was able to see him and meet with him, and he's a pretty cool guy."

Penix ran a 4.6-yard 40-yard dash at Washington's Pro Day. He also finished with a 36.5-inch vertical jump and a broad jump of 10 feet, 5 inches.

On Tuesday, Penix also visited the Denver Broncos, one of the Raiders' AFC West rivals. Denver has pick No. 12 in this year's draft, while the Raiders have pick No. 13. Denver, of course, has high interest in a quarterback this offseason after parting ways with Russell Wilson.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
