Raiders Re-Signed S Isaiah Pola-Mao

The Las Vegas Raiders brought back safety Isaiah Pola-Mao.

The Las Vegas Raiders have returned a key backup in their secondary.

The club announced Thursday that it re-signed safety Isaiah Pola-Mao.

Pola-Mao played in 16 games last season, having only missed the Raiders' Week 4 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers. He finished the season with 20 combined tackles, a tackle for a loss, a sack, and an interception. 

Pola-Mao's best game came against the Miami Dolphins in Week 11 when he played a season-high 54 defensive snaps. He registered a career-best seven combined tackles and recorded his first interception of his young career. 

Next season will be Pola-Mao's third with the Raiders. Las Vegas signed him as an undrafted free agent in May 2022.

After playing just two games in the Raiders' first eight games of the 2022 season, the club elevated Pola-Mao to the active roster ahead of its Week 10 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.

Pola-Mao played 11 games that season, posting 20 combined tackles, two for losses, and a sack.

The Raiders recently re-signed Pola-Mao's fellow USC teammate, linebacker Kana'i Mauga, whom he played with for four seasons in college.

Pola-Mao was a three-year starter for the Trojans. He totaled a career-best 70 combined tackles in just his second season and was named an All-Pac-12 honorable mention the following year (2020-21). Pola-Mao finished his collegiate career with 178 combined tackles, nine for losses, 1.5 sacks, five interceptions, eight passes defensed, four fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble.

Pola-Mao is the great-nephew of former Raiders running back coach Kennedy Polamalu, who joined the Seattle Seahawks' coaching staff this offseason. The young safety is also the nephew of Hall-of-Fame defensive back Troy Polamalu, who also went to USC.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
