How the Rams Can Kick Off Next Season With a Bang

The Los Angeles Rams are looking to continue to be dominant in 2026. What should be their ideal matchup to kick off the year?

The Los Angeles Rams didn't end last season how they wanted, but their focus now should be preparing for what will be an eventful 2026. They have two first-round picks and plenty of cap space available to them to strengthen and extend their championship window.

Super Bowl 61 will be hosted in SoFi Stadium, and the last time that happened, the Rams were able to win the big game in front of their home fans. That's the ultimate goal for them next season, and they must do everything in their power this offseason to prepare for that. What would be the best way for their 2026 season to start?

Jared Dublin writes for FOX Sports, and he listed some of the top teams that would provide the most entertainment for the Seattle Seahawks and their opening matchup next season. The Rams are at the top of that list due to how incredible all three of their games were last season.

"The Rams and Seahawks played three of the best games of the year in 2025, each seemingly more closely contested than the last. The Rams seemed like one of the only teams in the league that could actually move the ball with any degree of consistency against the Seattle defense, a testament to Sean McVay as well as league MVP Matthew Stafford and both Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. Giving the Rams another opportunity to go up against the reigning champions and their league-best defense is the best show the league could possibly put on for opening night", said Dublin.

From a strictly entertainment standpoint, this would be the best way to kick off the new season. Each of the three contests between the Rams and Seahawks was decided by one score, and that included a game that went to overtime, where both teams scored nearly 40 points.

From the Rams' perspective, a win over the defending Super Bowl champions would solidify them as the favorite to win it all and give them an early lead in the NFC West race. The Seahawks showed that it pays off to be the number one seed in the NFC, and with the Super Bowl being at home, the Rams could see a playoff run where they don't have to travel at all, due to the weather and stadium they're used to.

There'd clearly be a lot of storylines heading into the game, like if Matthew Stafford is still in MVP form against Seattle's dominant defense. If Cooper Kupp is still on the Seahawks roster, what impact can he have against his former team now that he's a two-time Super Bowl champion?

The Rams should want this matchup to start the new season, because it shows them their biggest obstacle right off the bat and gives them much more time to prepare for the rematch.
