No. 1 Seed in AFC 'Means Nothing' to Ravens Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens now hold the No. 1 seed in the AFC, but quarterback Lamar Jackson isn't worrying about where his team is in the standings.

The Baltimore Ravens were the biggest beneficiary of the Kansas City Chiefs' 21-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, as John Harbaugh's team now has the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

With the Chiefs' loss, Baltimore now moves up to the top spot and intends to stay there. Fresh off a 34-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the Ravens now eye the Los Angeles Chargers, who are struggling this season as they look to stay at the top of the AFC.

But does the No. 1 seed now being in their grasp mean anything to Lamar Jackson?

“Not really,” Jackson said. “Still a lot of [the] season left to play, it don’t really mean anything to me right now.”

Stacking wins is now paramount for Baltimore, and with the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers, and the Miami Dolphins on the schedule after Los Angeles, things are about to get tough.

Covering the loss for tight end Mark Andrews will also be tough. Initially thought to be lost for the season, there is some hope he could return if Baltimore goes on a deep playoff run.

Holding the No. 1 seed could make a return even more probable, but in the meantime, it is up to the Ravens receivers to pick up the slack.

With Odell Beckham Jr. (4 rec, 116 yards), along with Nelson Agholor, and Rashod Bateman getting touchdown grabs vs. the Bengals, the unit covered for Andrews.

For Jackson, his wavelength with his receivers is improving with each passing week, but he stated that it needs to continue with playoffs just around the corner.

“I believe my chemistry with all the receivers are coming along well the longer the season been going,” Jackson said. “We just gotta keep locking in in practice and keep building more because playoffs rolling around, end of the season, we just gotta keep stepping in the right direction.”

So, while being the No. 1 seed doesn't mean much to the Ravens or Jackson, we imagine they are hellbent on staying there.

It will be the old "one game at a time" motto for Baltimore, and with the Chargers up next, all their focus will be on rolling into SoFi Stadium and getting its ninth win of the season.

And in doing so, they will still be in possession of the "meaningless" No. 1 seed.
