BREAKING: Ravens Offer Contract to Odell Beckham Jr.; Will He Sign?

A decision could be coming soon from free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., after he has received a contract offer from the Baltimore Ravens.

The Baltimore Ravens have been relatively silent this offseason regarding NFL free agency. Their only signing thus far has been wide receiver Nelson Agholor, which isn't enough to solve their problems out wide if they have the desire to make a deep playoff run.

The Ravens aren't done, though; even in the shadow of an uncertain future at quarterback after Lamar Jackson went public about his request for a trade as negotiations for a long-term contract have stalled, Baltimore is among the contenders to land Odell Beckham Jr.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Ravens Monday made an offer to the top free-agent receiver after the two parties met in Arizona during the NFL Owners' Meetings.

Said Schefter on ESPN this afternoon:

“The Baltimore Ravens have met with Odell Beckham Jr., they’ve presented him their own offer. It certainly sounds like it’s the Jets, it’s the Ravens, maybe the Rams still would have interest but those, at this point in time, would be the obvious landing spots.”

A report Sunday indicated Beckham is seeking a one-year, $15 million deal, down from the $20 million he originally was believed to want.

The signing of Beckham would be a big one for the Ravens as they look to reinvigorate an offense under new offensive coordinator Todd Monken that's struggled in the passing game.

Monken, the ex-Georgia Bulldog play-caller, has worked with Beckham while with the Cleveland Browns. That experience together with Beckham in Cleveland was something he brought up in his introductory press conference with the Ravens

"I really like Odell [Beckham Jr.]," Monken told reporters. "Odell is super athletic, twitchy. [He] really likes football. I really did [like him]. It didn't work out the year I was there [with him in Cleveland], but ultimately … He's like every skill player; he's no different – I don't know why everybody gets pissed off – like, he wants the ball."

Beckham's 1,035 yards and four touchdowns on 74 receptions in 2021 is certainly the type of production the Ravens would take, especially after a year away from the football field.

Since winning the Super Bowl with the Rams, where he tore his ACL and saw his contract expire, Beckham has been a free agent while focusing on rehab.

Despite midseason interest from several teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and even his former team, the New York Giants, Beckham remained unsigned. Still, it seems like his time on the open market could be ending, as he has an offer from the Ravens and could wait to see if the New York Jets make their proposal before making a decision.
