All-Time Super Bowl QBs: Two Ravens Ranked In Middle Of Pack

Are Ravens Joe Flacco and Trent Dilfer ranked too low as the best-ever quarterbacks to start a Super Bowl?

The argument of "greatest of all time" NFL quarterbacks begins and ends with Tom Brady's supreme reign. However, the league boasts many other crazy talented quarterbacks that have shined on the biggest football stage: the Super Bowl.

NFL.com ranked the best 66 quarterbacks to ever start a Super Bowl and two Baltimore Ravens landed on the list. Joe Flacco is the highest-ranked Raven at No. 49, followed by Trent Dilfer at No. 62. Both quarterbacks fall in the "middle of the pack" category.

Flacco led the Ravens to a Super Bowl XLVII victory by beating the San Francisco 49ers. Flacco earned Super Bowl MVP and tied Joe Montana's single postseason record for touchdown passes (11) without an interception in 2013. Dilfer was the Ravens' starting quarterback in 2000, which culminated in the franchise's first Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl XXXV over the New York Giants.

Dilfer and Flacco had very different Baltimore experiences after winning the Super Bowl. ... Dilfer was not re-signed by the Ravens, becoming the first starting quarterback to be released after a Super Bowl win; while Flacco signed a six-year contract worth $120.6 million, a record high for a quarterback at the time.

The other quarterbacks tiered with Flacco and Dilfer are Chris Chandler, Billy Kilmer, Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Jeff Hostetler, Nick Foles, Neil O'Donnell, Colin Kaepernick, Jake Delhomme, Jared Goff, Doug Williams, Jalen Hurts, Jimmy Garoppolo, Jim McMahon, Joe Kapp, Stan Humphries and Vince Ferragamo

After an unprecedented career, the recently-retired Brady takes the top spot on the list. Behind Brady is No. 2 Johnny Unitas, No. 3 Joe Montana, No. 4 Peyton Manning, and No. 5 Dan Marino. The ranking is based on accomplishment as it stands today.

Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts, the two quarterbacks starting Super Bowl LVII, also make the list. Mahomes is at No. 10 and climbing while Hurts, who has only 34 career regular-season starts, lands at No. 57. It's not often Mahomes is an underdog. ... He and the Kansas City Chiefs will try to pull the upset over the Philadelphia Eagles (1.5-point favorites) in Glendale, Ariz. on Feb. 12 to become Super Bowl LVII Champions.
