Harbaugh Out as Ravens Coach
Harbaugh helped the Ravens win a Super Bowl back in 2013 and accomplished a lot with the franchise, but the last two years have shown that the team might be looking for a change.
For many with the Ravens, Harbaugh is the only head coach they've known in the NFL. That includes fullback Patrick Ricard, who expressed his gratitude towards Harbaugh in a recent interview with the media.
"I'm super grateful and appreciative of [head coach John] Harbaugh. He's a big reason why I'm here. He's a big reason why I even had a chance to play fullback. I was an undrafted defensive lineman out of Maine, and he could have just looked at me as that, but he saw something in me and gave me the opportunity to make this team," Ricard said.
"I just have a lot of respect for him. I think he's a great leader. I think he's a great coach, and I would love to keep playing for him. I know how much he means to the guys in this locker room and to this organization. He just loves football, and he loves us, so that's all you really want out of a head coach."
Ravens running back Derrick Henry expressed support for Harbaugh's return after the loss against the Steelers. It should be a very interesting offseason to see how the team replaces him.
"I love [head] Coach [John] Harbaugh. I would love to see him at this organization. As far as those decisions, that's out of my pay grade. I don't make those decisions, but yes, I love everybody in this organization. I tried my best this year, but just didn't do enough to get it done," Henry said.
The Ravens haven't had to look for a head coach since 2008. So, it should be a very competitive and attractive job. There are six other teams looking for a head coach, including the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, and Tennessee Titans. So the Ravens will have to figure out quickly who they want to replace Harbaugh moving forward.
