In this story:

When your quarterback room has two recent Pro Bowlers in it, it's bound to get some recognition. As such, the Baltimore Ravens' passing group headlined by Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley was named the fifth-best in the NFL by Mike Florio of NBC Sports, who ranked each of the 32 teams' depth this week.

Granted, in ranking the quarterback depth charts of the NFL, Florio notes that Huntley's Pro Bowl invite, brought about by several medically-induced absences, was "borderline laughable," the return of Jackson from his own injury has raised expectations in Baltimore as they seek to recover from a disappointing postseason cameo from last year.

Quarterback is an important position in any NFL team's success or failure, but Florio says it's particularly vital in Charm City.

"The Ravens will contend this year. They could be a serious contender for a Super Bowl appearance," Florio says. "Much of it hinges on the quarterback position, and the team’s overall quarterback position is among the best in the league."

Returning to the fold is Jackson, who has missed 10 games over. the last two seasons. Despite last taking the field in early December, Jackson has lingered in the headlines, thanks primarily to a contract stand-off with Ravens management, one he eventually won to the tune of a five-year deal worth $260 million, making him the highest-paid player in the NFL.

With that out of the way, the multi-talented passer figures to be due for a return to form, especially with new offensive arrivals like Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers in tow with usual aerial suspect Mark Andrews.

"(Jackson's) throwing skills are regularly underestimated and often dismissed," Florio says. "He has his five-year contract, he’s fully engaged, and he has multiple new weapons at his disposal as the team transitions from the Greg Roman offense to the Todd Monken attack."

Even if Huntley's all-star invite was seen as the epitome of Pro Bowl parody, Florio does admit that he creates of the more stable backups in the league, noting that he held his own in the Ravens' aforementioned playoff game against the defending conference champion Cincinnati.

"It also helps that the Ravens have Tyler Huntley as the backup," Florio says. "He’s under contract for one more season, and he has proven to be a competent understudy to Jackson."

Huntley will battle fellow returnees Anthony Brown and Josh Johnson for the right to serve as Johnson's primary understudy.

The Kansas City Chiefs, armed with the services of the reigning face of the NFL Patrick Mahomes, topped Florio's rankings followed by Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Buffalo.
