Ravens Free Agency: Adding Depth on the Offensive Line with Jets' Mekhi Becton

In this story:
The Baltimore Ravens are expected to be big players in free agency this offseason. Charm City has mostly been connected to big name players at skill positions like running back and wide receiver, but it'll also need to add some depth along the offensive line.
Kevin Zeitler and John Simpson could both be leaving in free agency, so Baltimore will be looking for replacements.
April's NFL Draft will give some opportunity to add names there, but free agency could give an opportunity to find a Week 1 starter for 2024.
On name that could be available is tackle Mekhi Becton, who most recently played for the New York Jets. Becton was the 11th overall pick in the 2020 draft and was a teammate of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson at Louisville.
The former Cardinal has dealt with an unfortunate series of injuries since his rookie season and he hasn't played particularly well in New York. But a change of scenery is sometimes what young players need to rejuvenate their careers.

Becton is set to become a free agent this month and the Jets have made it clear they won't re-sign him. Potential is there, evidenced by his strong rookie campaign where he started 13 games and finished with a 74.4 PFF grade, the 31st-best mark out of 79 eligible players.
Despite his injury history, he could still return to rookie form, and it would be a low-risk, high-reward situation for Baltimore if they decide to give him a shot.
