Ravens Coach Monken Only Wants To Look Ahead

In this story:
Baltimore Ravens new offensive coordinator Todd Monken talked about looking to the past to correct mistakes.
"The only reason you look back is to correct shit," Monken said. "That's what you do. The reason I'm looking back is, we don't want it to look like that. You don't look back to feel sorry for yourself, you look back and say 'That has to be fixed, that has to be better, that has to be better.' That's what the word coordinator means. It means fix it."
He was brought in to replace former offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who was unable to get the job done with star quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Before being hired by the Ravens, Monken was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Georgia, where he helped the Bulldogs win back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022.
In Baltimore's Week 1 game at home against the Houston Texans, its offense performed fine but there is certainly room to grow. Jackson threw for 155 passing yards and the team as a whole picked up 110 rushing yards on the ground for a total of 265 yards of offense.
The Texans, who scored nine points in the game on three field goals, had 268 yards of total offense. Both teams picked up 18 first downs in the game and the Ravens turned the ball over twice.
Monken and the offense will have plenty of time to grow and flourish this season with and MVP quarterback in Jackson and weapons like Zay Flowers, Odell Beckham Jr. and Mark Andrews.
Baltimore will be back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on the road against division rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals.
