Ravens Fall to Buccaneers 26-20 in Preseason Finale: Live Game Log

In this story:

The Ravens and Buccaneers match up in the final game for both teams of the 2023 preseason before a week off and the beginning of the schedule of the games that matter.

We don't expect to see quarterback Lamar Jackson or any of the regular starters, as coach John Harbaugh has elected to rest them all for the preseason. The only "starter" that might see action is rookie wideout Zay Flowers, just as he has seen in the previous two preseason games.

Others, however, will be making their final appearance in hopes of earning a spot on the final 53-man roster before the Aug. 29 cut-down deadline. Josh Johnson will start under center while Tyler Huntley is still nursing a hamstring injury suffered against Philly.

Johnson most likely will see all the first-half action before Anthony Brown finishes the game in the second half.

The Ravens hope to start a new preseason winning streak after their 24-game streak was snapped against the Commanders last week in a dramatic 29-28 loss that felt almost like a playoff game instead of a meaningless, preseason matchup.

As Tampa Bay continues to attempt to transition from the Tom Brady era, Baker Mayfield will take over the reins of the offense after being named the starter. He and Kyle Trask should split time on Saturday.

Live game updates will appear here after kickoff...

FIRST QUARTER: Buccaneers 14, Ravens 7

The Bucs start the game with the ball at their own 25 after the touchback.

Baker Mayfield starts the game at quarterback for Tampa Bay and the Bucs go 3-and-out with a Rachaad White run and two short Mayfield passes. The Jake Camarda punt goes  47 yards to the BAL 20, fair caught by Tylan Wallace.

Josh Johnson is in at quarterback for the Ravens. Johnson hits Charlie Kolar for 19 yards, then Wallace for 15 and James Proche for 22 to the TB 24.

TOUCHDOWN RAVENS: Johnson finds Laquon Treadwell for 24 yards and a touchdown. The Justin Tucker extra point is good for a 7-0 Ravens lead with 11:16 left in the first quarter. The scoring drive goes 80 yards in four plays and takes 1:59 off the clock.

The Tucker kick goes 62 yards to the TB 3, Devin Thompkins returns it 38 yards to the TB 41.

Mayfield has better control of the offense this time around and grinds the Bucs to the BAL 11. Godwin caught two balls for 16 yards, White and Otten rushed twice for 22 yards.

TOUCHDOWN BUCCANEERS: Mayfield finds Godwin in the end zone for 11 yards and a touchdown. The McLaughlin extra point is good for a 7-7 score with 8:19 left in the first quarter. The scoring drive goes 59 yards in six plays and takes 2:57 off the clock.

The Ravens get the ball at the 25 to start the drive.

A Johnson scramble and a Gordon five-yard run extended the drive from the BAL 37. A Johnson pass to Kolar for six yards is nullified by Johnson losing four yards on a scramble sack.

On 4th and 8 from the BAL 39, Stout punts 55 yards to the TB 6, downed by Simpson.

Kyle Trask comes in at quarterback for Tampa Bay, but the Bucs run a steady diet of White up the middle to the TB 20 before an incomplete pass from Trask to Moore.

Trask hits a couple of passes and White runs through the Ravens' defense to the BAL 33. The Bucs are moving the ball at will against the Ravens, up to the BAL 6.

FIELD GOAL BUCCANEERS: McLaughlin hits from 27. The scoring drive goes 31 yards in nine plays and takes 4:54 off the clock.
