Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson Out For Season With Shoulder Injury Suffered Against Baltimore Ravens

The Cleveland Browns' playoff chances took a huge blow on Wednesday.
The Browns announced on Wednesday that Watson will have season-ending surgery for a broken bone in his right shoulder. Watson, who had been dealing with issues in his throwing shoulder throughout the season, suffered the broken bone in his shoulder in the Browns' 33-31 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that Watson wanted to be "shot up" in an attempt to play through his shoulder and ankle injuries. He also reported that Watson received multiple medical opinions, and they told him if he took a hit to the same spot, his shoulder "could fall apart."
In six starts this season, Watson is 5-1 and has thrown for 1,115 yards on 105-of-171 passing. He's also accounted for seven touchdowns and four interceptions. He's taken somewhat of a beating this season with 17 sacks. Watson has also run the ball 26 times this season for 142 yards and another score.
Cleveland (6-3) moved half a game back of the Ravens for first place on Sunday and would be in the playoffs as a wild-card team if it began today. Now, their hopes of making the playoffs lie in the hands of P.J. Walker, who has already started two games for them this season. He'll make his third start of the season on Sunday when the Browns host the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3) at 1 p.m. ET at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
Baltimore (7-3) will look to get back on track on Thursday when it hosts the Cincinnati Bengals (5-4) at M&T Bank Stadium at 8:15 p.m. ET.
