When you typically mention the Saints and Falcons in the same sentence, it has to do with their longstanding rivalry in the NFC South. However, they put aside that during the season to unite for a greater cause, tackling ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). The cause centered around NFL Legends Tim Green and Steve Gleason and ended up raising $600,000.

Per the Saints press release on Friday morning, each foundation received $250,000 from each team's efforts through the raffle process in their respective games this season and also gained an additional $100,000 from the NFL Foundation. The funds will be used to help advance research, provide patient support and raise awareness for ALS.

“This collaboration transcends the rivalry on the field.” said Tim Green, Atlanta Falcons Legend and Tackle ALS Founder. Tackle ALS was started in 2018. “The Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints have shown the world the profound impact sports can have on meaningful causes. The response from our fans has been overwhelming, showcasing the power of unity for the greater good.”

"ALS doesn't discriminate, nor does the power of collective action. The alliance between rivals on the field exemplifies the triumph of humanity as we work toward the common goal of ending ALS and caring for those living with it off the field. We are deeply grateful for the support from both fanbases, the teams, and the NFL," added Steve Gleason, New Orleans Saints Legend and Team Gleason Founder. Team Gleason was started after his diagnosis in 2011.
