Seahawks BREAKING: Devon Witherspoon Signs Rookie Deal - Details

Seattle Seahawks fans can now breathe easier knowing that their No. 5 overall pick, Devon Witherspoon, is officially signed and locked in.

The Seattle Seahawks have finally signed their top draft pick to his rookie deal.

Per reports Friday from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks have signed No. 5 overall pick and rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon to his rookie contract. The Illinois product agreed to terms on a four-year, $31.86 million deal that is fully guaranteed. It also includes a massive $20.2 million signing bonus, per the report.

After holding out at the start of Seattle's training camp, Witherspoon is the final first-round pick to sign his rookie deal.

Though he was limited, he got his first chance to get an NFL feel during rookie minicamp in May and showed a humble approach while doing so, though the money he's now making is far from a "humble" amount. Despite being the name everyone in the organization is talking about, he put an emphasis on making a strong first impression much like a undrafted free agent would.

“Everything is about making an impression," he said in May. "It’s the first time getting out here with the guys and coaches and being able to perform in front of them. Like you said, you can’t take your first impression back, so it’s everything.”

Based on comments like these, it's no wonder that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll didn't sound concerned about Witherspoon holding out when asked about it on Wednesday.

“He’s not here today. He knows everything he needs to know,” Carroll said. “I can’t imagine he won’t be here very soon. He knows what is going on right now and we’ll see what happens."
