Super Switch: Seahawks Home Favorites Over Rams in Week 1?

Oddsmakers have made the Seattle Seahawks almost a touchdown favorite over the Los Angeles Rams in their season opener in September.

Ready for rookie Devon Witherspoon to shine on defense? For co-first round pick Jaxon Smith-Njigba to find the end zone? Anxious for quarterback Geno Smith to start validating his $105 million contract?

Add it all up and come Week 1 at Lumen Field it will mean ...

Seattle Seahawks 26, Los Angeles Rams 20?

As part of last week's NFL schedule release, Seattle learned it would be hosting the rival Rams in its opener Sept. 10. In the wake of the schedule, various sports betting sites have posted odds for all Week 1 games. A year ago picked by most "experts" to finish near the bottom of an NFC West expected to be dominated by the defending Super Bowl champion Rams, the Seahawks went on to a Wild Card berth and are now considered the better team.

For the season opener, the Seahawks are generally favored by six points, with an over/under of 46.

In other words, the tables have significantly turned.

A year after the Rams won the Super Bowl, the Seahawks swept the two meetings in 2022 by a combined seven points. They won by four points at L.A. in December, then by a field goal on a dramatic final Sunday of the regular season in January.

Jason Myers' 32-yard field goal in overtime beat the Rams, 19-16, to finish with a record of 9-8. Seattle then got unexpected help from the Detroit Lions to make the playoffs.

Seattle's projected win total for this season remains at 8.5.
