Geno Smith Making Critics 'Eat Their Words' - Seahawks' Quandre Diggs

As Geno Smith continues his resurgence in Seattle, it does not come as a surprise to Quandre Diggs.

Entering their bye week, the Seattle Seahawks boast a 6-4 record, finding themselves in possession of first place in the NFC West and firmly entrenched in the NFC playoff race.

Leading the resurgence in Seattle has been quarterback Geno Smith, who has been playing at an MVP level. Through 10 games he leads the NFL in completion percentage at 72.8 percent while throwing for 2,474 yards and 17 touchdowns and only four interceptions.

While this career renaissance has come as a surprise to some, Smith's teammate Quandre Diggs knew what he was capable of.

“They said what they said. Me? I’m going to stand on what I stand on,” Diggs said. “I stand on ...  those principles ...

"Geno is showing them right now and a lot of people are eating their words.”

As for how Smith is suddenly playing at an MVP level after struggling to find his footing in the NFL early in his career, well, to him the answer to that question is rather simple.

“I think it’s a mixture of talent and mental stability. I think those things are coming into a good combination right now,” Smith said. “I’ve always had those two things, so it’s more so just me being in the light versus doing it in the shadows.”

There are seven games left in Seattle's season and Smith has the Seahawks in prime position to clinch a playoff berth in what was tabbed a rebuilding year by some. If you ask anyone in the building though, this is far from a surprise.

Rather, this is exactly what they knew Smith was capable of doing when he was named the starter. ... as Geno's ability comes "into the light.''
