After an offseason full of optimism and hope, the first half of the Seattle Seahawks Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams went according to the script.

But the second half was the polar opposite as the Seahawks were held scoreless. After such a disappointing defeat, the mood in the Seattle locker room was naturally down.  Enter veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Part of being a leader is the ability to rally your teammates and galvanize them when adversity comes your way. Quarterback Geno Smith detailed that Wagner gathered the team before practice Wednesday and reminded the roster of exactly who they are.

“I think Bobby did a great job of just reminding guys of who we are as a team,” Smith said. “Whenever you have a tough loss like that, you can start looking around and say hey what’s going on, but we got to know who we are as a team. You know, we’re a confident bunch and we got to continue to remain confident and continue to play with that swagger and that energy. That was his huge message, just be confident and have that energy.”

One game doesn't define a team, and the Seahawks will be looking to right the wrongs of their Week 1 effort when they visit the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Part of that is going back, looking at the film, and seeing what went wrong for the Seattle offense. Converting just two of nine third downs and not being able to move the ball against a Rams defense that was hellbent on not giving an inch was no doubt job No. 1.

For offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, those issues have been dealt with and the team is now looking to test itself against a Lions team coming off a superb season-opening win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

“We’ve moved forward, looked at those corrections," Waldron said. "It's starting with the coaches and then moving onto the players and how we execute and how we handle some of that adversity that we did face in the second half. So feeling confident we were able to get those corrections done. Ready to move forward and go against a good Detroit Lions team."

Confidence is key and with Wagner, Smith, and now Waldron having echoed the same thoughts, the mindset is shifting ahead of the matchup with Detroit.
