Seahawks' Offensive Coordinator Search: Former Commanders Coach Eric Bieniemy Perfect Fit?

Former Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald has taken over as head coach of the Seahawks and is working hard to build his staff. He recently hired the son of new Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh, Jay Harbaugh, to serve as special teams coordinator. That was a surprise since many thought Jay would be following his father to the Chargers organization.

Are there more surprises in store for Seahawks fans from Macdonald?

He's still in need of an offensive and defensive coordinator. Well, offensive coordinator for sure. His need for a defensive coordinator may be overstated since we know he will serve as the defensive play caller and be heavily involved in the defensive game plan from week to week.

Could former Washington and Kansas City offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy be on his way to the West Coast? Bieniemy was recently either fired, let go, not retained, whatever you want to call it, by the Commanders.

After the hiring of Dan Quinn as head coach, Bieniemy was relieved of his duties when Kliff Kingsbury was brought in to serve in the same capacity.

Bieniemy could be a good fit in Seattle. With a defensive-minded head coach, Bieniemy could have free reign to run the offense.

Report: Seahawks Expected to Hire Jay Harbaugh as Special Teams Coach

Bieniemy's track record seems to speak for itself after the success he had with the Chiefs under Kansas City, and how the Chiefs' offense seemed to take a step back after he left. Plus, Bieniemy worked wonders in his only season leading the Commanders' offense and gave us a glimpse of what Sam Howell can be with the right leadership behind him.

Macdonald would be wise to consider Bieniemy, who oddly only interviewed for the head coaching position for his own team after Ron Rivera was let go. It could be a good fit for both parties involved.
