In this story:

The Seattle Seahawks will enter the draft with many scenarios that can play out. Due to the franchise's multiple first-round picks (No. 5 & No. 20), head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider can go almost anywhere with their selections.

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Jalen Carter has been heavily linked with Seattle, as have a host of defensive stars in Tyree Wilson, Christian Gonzalez, and Devon Witherspoon.

But quarterback chatter has picked up recently. Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson has been mentioned in several mock drafts as the player the Seahawks "could" take.

Whether that be at No. 5 or No. 20, it remains to be seen. But taking a quarterback in the first round has gathered serious momentum.

But would it be worth it for Seattle?

Looking at Geno Smith's shiny new contract, the Seahawks have an out after the upcoming season. If, for example, Richardson is taken with the No.5 pick, the Gators star can sit behind Smith, learn the offense, and potentially be ready to take over in 2024.

Should Seattle move on from Smith after next season, he would only have a cap of $17.4 million per Spotrac.com, so that doesn't exactly break the bank.

A move for Richardson, considered to be an athletic freak in multiple areas, could be a great move for Seattle. It would likely have to be with the No. 5 pick, but that is the beauty of having two first-round selections.

The Seahawks could, in theory, grab Richardson and another defensive star in the first round. Not to mention Seattle also has the No. 37 pick in the second round.

Smith had a great season last year as he led Seattle to the playoffs and broke several franchise records along the way. But is he the future moving forward? That is up for debate.

But in drafting Richardson (or another quarterback at No.5), the Seahawks could land themselves their franchise quarterback for the next 15 years.

Is that too good of an opportunity to pass up? We will find out soon enough.
