Steelers LB Elandon Roberts Calls Out Najee Harris at Practice: 'Pick Up Your [Expletive] Head'

In this story:

LATROBE -- Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Elandon Roberts has been known as a downhill runner stuffer for years in the NFL, and that isn't changing now that he's competing for a job at Saint Vincent College.

The Steelers' inside linebacker is working with/against Cole Holcomb, Mark Robinson, and now Kwon Alexander for a starting job. So far, he hasn't stood out in a positive or negative way, but he did get caught voicing his opinion to Pittsburgh's star running back.

As reported by The Athletic's Mark Kaboly, Roberts wasn't a fan of a run by Najee Harris during the team's training camp practice and made sure he let him know afterward.

"You better pick up your [expletive] head," Roberts said, according to Kaboly.

The play was a stretch to the outside where Roberts forced Harris out of bounds on a "minimal gain," according to Kaboly.

The exchange didn't go any further than that, but it's definitely one of the more highly-noted callouts at camp thus far.

Roberts is expected to be the team's downhill backer this season, and should meet Harris in the hole a few times once the pads come at in Latrobe.

For Harris, this isn't the attention he's hoping to receive at training camp. Entering his third season, he's next on the docket in the NFL's battle against running back contracts. At the start of camp, he voiced his displeasure with the league and teams holding out contracts for names like Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley - who has since signed.

Anticipation is high for Harris as he looks to complete his third 1,000-yard season in three years. And after Roberts' words in practice, it'll be interesting to see how he responds.
