Steelers Get Positive Update on QB Prospect

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have added another quarterback option to their list.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers didn't do much quarterback scouting at the NFL Combine, but they could be looking at options toward the middle to later part of the NFL Draft. 

The team carries three quarterbacks on their roster during the season, and general manager Omar Khan has made it known they plan to do the same this year. So far, they've displayed their interest in re-signing Mason Rudolph, and are set to meet with free agent Russell Wilson. 

But if neither work out, or only one does, the team could be looking at the NFL Draft. One name who has been linked as a potential mid-round pick is Florida State's Jordan Travis. 

Travis missed the end of the 2023 season due to an ankle injury that required surgery. It was unknown what his recovery timetable looked like, but news has now broke that he's expected to be fully cleared by April, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Travis finished his career with 8,715 yards and 66 touchdowns at Florida State. He's viewed as a mid-round pick, going anywhere from the third to fifth round of the NFL Draft. 

Depending on their draft board, Pittsburgh could be interested, and with a full clearing coming around the NFL Draft, the Steelers may view this an opportunity to begin grooming another young quarterback.
