How Tennessee Titans Are Handling 2024 Senior Bowl

Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan and executive vice president/general manager Ran Carthon will stay in Nashville and focus on interviewing assistant coaching candidates. President of Football Operations Chad Brinker and assistant general manager Anthony Robinson will attend the Senior Bowl with scouting staff.

NASHVILLE — Chad Brinker, recently promoted to president of football operations for the Tennesse Titans, and Anthony Robinson, the assistant general manager, will attend this week's Senior Bowl practices in Mobile as representatives of the team.

According to a source within the team, Ran Carthon, the executive vice president/general manager and newly hired coach Brian Callahan has will stay back in Nashville to interview potential assistant coaches.

For the Senior Bowl practices from Tuesday to Thursday and the game on Saturday, Brinker, Robinson, and the entire Titans scouting staff will be present. The game will air Saturday on the NFL Network.

One of the consistent recurring themes from Tennessee Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk is she wants to see the organization become more collaborative in decisions involving player acquisition and development.

Adams Strunk initiated a restructuring process for the Titans by appointing Brian Callahan as the new coach to replace Mike Vrabel. In addition, Ran Carthon and Chad Brinker were promoted to new roles to redefine the team's football power structure.

Carthon and Callahan focusing on coaching hires while Brinker leads the scouting of potential new Titans is an example of the new power dynamic in action.

"As our league continues to evolve in areas like analytics, sports science, and technology, football organizations have become more complex and multifaceted. I want our football operation to be at the forefront of the NFL as teams continue to find new competitive advantages," Adams Strunk said in a statement.

Carthon's new duties include overseeing all areas that impact the football team, such as roster control, team activities, personnel decisions (including draft and free agency acquisitions), oversight of Callahan and his coaching staff, scouting, sports medicine, and player engagement.

Brinker oversees various football departments that deal with salary cap management, analytics and strategy, communications and information systems, and team operations such as security, video, equipment, and grounds. Additionally, Brinker will continue to evaluate talent in college and the NFL through scouting.

"In this new role, Chad will blend his executive experience with his strengths in football and scouting to ensure our football operation continues to innovate and grow as new opportunities emerge," Adams Strunk said. "Chad's oversight of these areas will allow Ran to focus his full attention and energy on building and leading a championship football team."

The Titans have a good track record of finding talent at the Senior Bowl, with recent examples of players like cornerback Roger McCreary and running back Tyjae Spears.

Most draft boards expect the Titans to select either Penn State tackle Olu Fashanu or Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt with the No.7 pick in this year's NFL Draft. Neither of those players are expected to be at the Senior Bowl, but several others the Titans could pick with the 38th selection in the second round will be there.

Titans assistant head coach/defensive line coach Terrell Williams is the head coach of the American team at the Senior Bowl, which could give the team extra insight on players since Williams will get lots of time with them.
