Kristian Fulton Making Big Impression At Titans Training Camp As He Heads into a Contract Year

The Tennessee Titans' cornerback is going into his fourth season and despite injury issues in the past, Fulton looks to be in the best shape of his career and is making plays at training camp.

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans need a big year out of cornerback Kristian Fulton and with Fulton set to hit free agency after the season, he could use a big year too. It appears Fulton could be on his way to doing just that based on his excellent start to training camp.

Fulton has gotten praise from all of his coaches for the shape he is in this year. Head coach Mike Vrabel recently applauded Fulton for playing at a higher weight, 195 pounds, which allows him to be more physical, but also maintaining his speed and quickness.

Fulton's conditioning also appears to be the best it has ever been. Vrabel mentioned earlier in camp that Fulton had a tendency to be lackadaisical at times in his first three years, but his conditioning seems to have made him sharper.

Fulton had a great day on Thursday at practice with multiple pass breakups and tight coverage. Not only is Fulton in excellent shape, but now with DeAndre Hopkins in the fold, Fulton gets to challenge himself daily against one of the best receivers in the NFL.

Titans safety Amani Hooker spoke about Fulton after Thursday's practice and seemed very excited for his fellow secondary member. Hooker pointed out Fulton's confidence as a big change.

"I think confidence," Hooker said. "He's going into year four, so his confidence is high. He's played against some of the best receivers in the league. He understands his capabilities."

Fulton surely is confident, but ask him yourself and he will tell you the big difference in him this year is having a full, healthy offseason to train. Fulton talked about the difference in last year and this year.

"More so, durability," Fulton explained. "Last season I was coming off shoulder surgery and I was trying to gain my weight back, so that kind of played a part going into the season, but I definitely feel stronger. I was able to work on everything this offseason, upper body, lower body, my stamina. All those things played a part in this offseason."

Fulton has missed 20 of a possible 50 games in his career. If he is able to stay healthy and confident, not only would that take the Titans' defense to a new level, but Fulton would certainly be in line for a big pay day, whether that comes from the Titans or not. A good outcome for both parties.
