NASHVILLE -- The Tennessee Titans have a new offensive coordinator in Tim Kelly, whom the team promoted from passing game coordinator on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport.

Titans' head coach Mike Vrabel spoke to reporters on Tuesday regarding the various moves made within their coaching staff, and he talked about what led the team's decision to hire Kelly as offensive coordinator.

"Tim Kelly is the right fit for us at this time. It's the perfect fit," Vrabel said.

Vrabel mentioned going through a thorough process when deciding what to do at offensive coordinator, but ultimately he felt like Kelly was the right person for the job.

"(We) met with some really, really good candidates," Vrabel said. "One that we were able to bring on here with our staff to help assist and support (Tim) Kelly and our offense and coach our quarterbacks and our passing game coordinator."

The familiarity that Kelly has is also something Vrabel pointed to that helped with the decision of hiring Kelly.

"I think what Tim, ultimately, was able to do was be able to provide some familiarity and some carry-over to what we are doing," Vrabel said.

Despite Tennessee's offense struggling at points during the 2022 season, Vrabel mentioned that he doesn't believe the offense as a whole is broken.

"I don't think everything is broken. I don't. I don't believe that, and he (Kelly) can help us," Vrabel said. "He can also add some things that really help us and take advantage of some opportunities. I've seen him call games against us. I feel like he has a great feel for the game."

Vrabel spoke highly of Kelly and talked about his previous experiences and the kind of leadership he can bring to the Titans' offense.

"His feel, his energy, his leadership are all things that came out throughout this process in multiple meetings with him and other candidates."
