Titans Look to End Steelers' 20 Years of Dominance on Thursday Night

The Tennessee Titans have historically struggled against the Pittsburgh Steelers and it won't be easy to reverse that trend on the road in a hostile environment in primetime on Thursday Night Football.

The Tennessee Titans and the Pittsburgh Steelers have always played tough, physical game, but over the past twenty years, most of those games ended up as Steelers' wins. The Titans are hoping to change things on Thursday Night Football.

Since 2003, the Titans are 3-8 against the Steelers. Even worse, when playing in Pittsburgh, the Titans are 1-5 in that stretch. Even if we look to more recent times, the Titans have been food for the Steelers far too often.

Since 2013, the Titans are 0-4 against the Steelers. Whether at home or away, the Titans haven't beaten them in 10 years. Regardless of the circumstances, the Titans can't seem to come out on top.

One thing worth noting here is for most of these games, the Steelers had a Hall-of-Famer at quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger. Even with Roethlisberger's career winding down, he was still able to beat the Titans in 2020 and 2021 with worse rosters than the Titans.

Speaking of quarterbacks, that is really where this is going for the Titans. Will Levis' debut got the entire country paying attention to the Titans, something that doesn't happen often and, if we are honest, is something Titans fans wish happened more.

While it was only one game, Levis has a chance to be something this team has not had in a long time, if ever. One of the ways to continue to build that hype and confidence would be to end this dominant streak by the Steelers.

Not only could Levis do that, but with the circumstances — short week, on the road, primetime — Levis could further cement his status as the quarterback of the future and prove his debut wasn't a lucky start.

The Titans sit at 3-4. so while it would be nice to see Levis break this "curse" it is also imperative to the Titans' playoff chances. The Steelers are 4-3 and will likely be vying for similar playoffs spots as the Titans. With a loss to the Browns and Ravens in the AFC already, the Titans can't afford to let the Steelers' reign over them continue.
