NASHVILLE - While questions remain about Tennessee Titans rookie running back Tyjae Spear's knee injury and reports that he has no ACL, Spears isn't saying much regarding his condition.

"I was out there, and I did everything, so I'm perfectly fine. I'm healthy," said Spears when asked about his knee following his second rookie minicamp practice with the Titans.

Asked a second time about the knee, Spears responded emphatically, "I'm healthy," with no other elaboration.

Following the third attempt to elicit a more thorough answer, Spears responded, seemingly somewhat agitated again, "I am healthy."

Understandably, Spears has likely grown tired of hearing that question, and his blunt response is to be expected.

Admittedly, having watched Spears perform on the carpet inside the Titans indoor practice "bubble," Spears showed great speed, burst, and cutting ability.

The former Tulane standout had much to say about what he showed on the field during the practice and the plays he made.

"It felt good, but you know, you've got to give all the credit to the o-line, the big boys that are blocking for you," said Spears. "So it felt good.

"It's a blessing to be a part of this team, and it feels good coming from where I come from, to be on an NFL team, so I'm super excited."

As for meeting his fellow rookies, Spears shared this.

"All the guys I've encountered are great, and so are the coaches," continued Spears. "They demand a lot out of you, but it's a great organization and great people."

A native of Louisiana, Spears was asked about playing his first professional game in New Orleans against his home state team.

"That's so far away, so I'm just taking it one day at a time," Spears said.

While Spears will serve as a backup this season to Derrick Henry, Spears seemed excited at the prospects of teaming with the former Heisman winner in the Titans backfield.

"Me and Derrick are actually locker mates; he's like on the right side of me, so yeah," said Spears. "I can't wait till he gets here so we can meet each other."

Spears admitted that he had spoken with Henry, "No, I didn't."

Despite whatever condition Spear's knee might be in physically, it did not slow him down in his final season with the Green Wave, as he rushed for  1,581 yards and 19 touchdowns in his last collegiate season.

As the backup to Henry this season, Spears should be able to acclimate to the NFL game without having the burden of carrying the load as the primary rusher, and while his knee is possibly a concern, the Titans and their medical staff felt good enough about it to select the explosive playmaking runner in round three of the draft.
