NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans may be looking to add some new faces to the roster after they opened the preseason against the Chicago Bears on Saturday. According to multiple reports, the Titans are doing a tryout with several players.

NFL Networks' Ian Rapoport reported that the Titans would be working out Darby. Darby has played eight seasons in the NFL for four teams and played his most recent two seasons with the Denver Broncos.

Darby's 2022 season was cut short in Week 5 due to an ACL tear, so whether or not Darby's knee is healthy will be the big question. When on the field, Darby was a starter. He has started 88 out of a possible 89 games he has played in his career.

Darby is more of an outside cornerback than someone who would play in the slot. At 5-foot-11, he has enough length to give the Titans another option outside of Kristian Fulton, Sean Murphy-Bunting and Tre Avery on the boundary.

This should benefit some of the Titans' younger corners as well. A player like Eric Garror is a great example. At 5-foot-8, Garror isn't the proper size to play as a boundary corner. His future with the Titans would be as a slot cornerback.

In the Bears game, Garror only played 15 snaps in the slot and had to play 12 snaps outside due to the Titans' depth there, or lack thereof. If Darby is signed, Garror might be able to focus all of those snaps at a position that he could realistically stick at. Garror was a standout on Saturday.

The Titans are also taking a look at defensive lineman Marvin Wilson. Wilson was a highly-touted prospect in high school and in college at Florida State, but hasn't caught on in the league yet. He played in one game in 2021 and 2022 with a total of 41 career snaps. He has only played for the Philadelphia Eagles since coming into the league in 2021.

Then we have running back Jacques Patrick. Reporting from Aaron Wilson indicates Patrick would meet with the Titans. Patrick has been in the NFL since 2020. He has bounced around with five teams the latest being the Denver Broncos. Something he coincidentally has in common with Darby.

However, Patrick has only played in two games in his career, both coming with the San Francisco 49ers in 2021. He played 24 total snaps, with 18 coming on special teams. Darby is a big-body back at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds. Odds are the Titans are looking for a size-speed player for special teams units and we did see Johnathan Ward get hurt against the Bears.

At this time, none of the players have signed and no further information is available, but it will be interesting to see how the Titans decide to churn the bottom of the roster as the preseason continues.

UPDATE

The Tennessee Titans have signed running back Jacques Patrick and waived cornerback Chris Jackson according to Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com.
