Northwestern's Current Hazing Issues Shouldn't Likely Impact Titans Rookie Skoronski

Things around Evanston and the Northwestern Wildcats football program aren't so good right now.

In this story:

NASHVILLE - Northwestern University's football program has suddenly found itself embroiled in what is likely to become an ugly legal battle between the school, and former head football coach Pat Fitzgerald, after allegations of hazing by university football players.

Described as "a toxic team culture that persisted for years," a Chicago Tribune report detailed what a recent investigation into events around the Wildcats program allegedly discovered. According to the report, at least 11 current or former football student-athletes "acknowledged that hazing has been ongoing within the football  program," including "nudity and sexualized acts of a degrading nature."

Tennessee Titans rookie first-round draft pick Peter Skoronski was an All-American offensive tackle at Northwestern just last season. He will now likely become the focal point of local and national media in an attempt to discover what, if anything, Skoronski knew or perhaps participated in as a member of the Wildcats team.

Having read multiple articles detailing the alleged events, there has been no mention of Skoronski being involved- no players were named in the article- in any of the issues described in these reports. However, that doesn't mean that he did not participate in some of these disturbing allegations.

Before Skoronski could potentially be asked about this, Titans general manager Ran Carthon and head coach Mike Vrabel will undoubtedly face questions about their draft process and whether they knew anything about these issues when investigating their future first-round pick.

At the same time, unless Skoronski is to be charged with a crime for any potential actions he might have taken part in, does this matter to the Titans at this point?

It's not like the Titans can ask for or would be given a redo of the entire draft if their prize rookie's name does surface in connection with these hazing allegations.

By all reports, Skoronski was then and has shown, at least to this point, to be a high-character individual, and even if new information were to come to light, the Titans would have only two options, keep him and deal with it, or cut him and move on.

I doubt that the latter would be an option unless, again, he were to be charged criminally for whatever potential role he might have played, if any.

Regardless, this now becomes a question(s) that the team and the rookie will likely face as soon as the media can see him on July 25.
