Titans Malik Willis Ranks High Among League No. 3 Quarterbacks

In this story:
NASHVILLE - It doesn't mean much unless he was being matched against other third-team quarterbacks in actual games. Still, Tennessee Titans third-string quarterback Malik Willis has been ranked among the top-five third-teamers at his position in the NFL.
According to a recent article by the Underdog Network, Willis is ranked as their No. 5 overall third-string passer. The reason for their selection of the second-year quarterback is an interesting one.
"Willis will never be the Cam Newton 2.0 some drafniks hyped him up to be based on their in-depth analysis of highlight reels of Liberty-Old Dominion games. But Willis can run, he throws hard, he’s big and he could still develop if the Titans staff doesn’t just push him out of the team bus and drive away like they clearly wanted to late last year (for whatever reason)."
"Who would you rather gameplan against: Willis or the dozens of guys you have read about so far? Thought so."
While Willis ranks behind only veterans Sam Darnold, Mason Rudolph, and Case Keenum, he finds himself also behind rookie Hendon Hooker on this list of third quarterbacks.
It's an excellent recognition for Willis to be atop this third group, but let's be honest. It means nothing on the football field, especially if Willis, as a three, is facing off against the No. 1 quarterback of any other league team.
Willis has shown improvement on the practice field in the limited viewing time for the media during recent Titans OTAs. While that progress is necessary, much work must be done before he might be considered ready to take on the best this league offers in actual games.
Here's to hoping that Titans starting signal-caller Ryan Tannehill can stay healthy this season and allow Willis and rookie second-round pick Will Levis to remain on the sidelines to learn and improve before we see them on the field anywhere other than the preseason.
