NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans are putting on a teaching clinic for how to build the worst wide receiver room in the NFL. Some thought that a former Titan in Corey Davis, according to rumors, would be cut by the New York Jets and immediately come to the Titans to help fix the issue. Well, think again Titans fans. According to Jets coach Robert Saleh, Davis will be sticking with the team this year.

Saleh spoke with New York media on Friday and echoed what Jets general manager Joe Douglas said last week, Corey Davis will be a Jet in 2024. This is bad news for the Titans. Davis was one of the primary cut candidates that some thought could make sense for the Titans if he hit the open market.

Davis spent his first four years in Tennessee before leaving for the Big Apple. Davis put up 207 catches for 2,851 yards and 11 touchdowns during his career with the Titans. Sadly, his Jets' career has gone somewhat like his Titans' career, marred by injury. Davis missed 10 games with the Titans in four years, but has missed 12 games for the Jets in just two seasons.

Even with the injury concerns though, the Titans would have gladly brought Davis back. Right now, the Titans have Treylon Burks as the lone receiver on the depth chart that can realistically be considered a starting-level wideout in the NFL. Behind him you have Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Chris Moore, who may be on the practice squad of other NFL clubs. They also have second-year player Kyle Philips, but Philips is a slot-only player who had eight catches last year.

With Davis off the board, the Titans will either have to look for less-talented options on the free agent market or trade more picks for help. The odds are, the Titans will feel like none of the realistic options move the needle and refuse to make a trade to improve. Thus, leading to heavy snaps for Westbrook-Ikhine and Moore. Something that should be very terrifying for folks wanting the Titans to win games.
