Tyler's Take: Titans Should Trade CB Kristian Fulton

In this story:
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans have an eye towards the future. It was obvious when they selected a quarterback and running back on day two of the 2023 NFL draft despite having Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry on the roster. One issue with the Titans' plan for the future is a lack of draft capital in 2024. One player who could be traded that would help that issue is Kristian Fulton.
Yes, the Titans would save more money by trading one of Tannehill, Henry or Kevin Byard, but at least with the last two there would be major public blowback if either were moved. Fulton is a guy who would cause little uproar, but would also give the Titans a chance to recoup some draft picks.
Tannehill, Henry and Byard are all aging players that are expensive. Fulton is still young at 24 years old and only cost $1.6 million on the cap. Age and price considered, the Titans may be able to get a day two pick in return for Fulton. Playing a premium position like cornerback helps too.
I can already hear the pushback. Why would the Titans do this when they need starting corners? Well, to me, the answers are right in front of us.
First, Fulton, as mentioned above, could actually fetch you something. Second, the Titans signed Sean Murphy-Bunting in free agency who is only 25 years old and have second-year player Roger McCreary. Third, Fulton has been injury prone throughout his career, missing 20 of a possible 50 games in his career and being called out by head coach Mike Vrabel for not handling injury prevention properly after the 2022 season ended.
Let me remind you that Fulton wasn't the only one called out by Vrabel for injury maintenance. Vrabel also mentioned former-Titans linebacker David Long who signed a cheap deal with the Miami Dolphins in free agency that the Titans surprisingly didn't match. Fulton is going into the last year of his rookie deal, so Vrabel could be ready to move on from him as he was Long.
It may sound crazy, but considering injury history, contract status and the Titans current situation as a team, getting back a pick on day two of the 2024 draft to replace the one used to trade up for Will Levis would be smart. The Titans will likely get a compensatory pick for Fulton if he leaves, but that won't be usable until 2025. If the Titans would rather have that pick in 2024, they could look to trade Fulton.
