In 2019, Seahawks running back Chris Carson finished as the No. 9 running back in standard fantasy football leagues with 195 points. Carson was fifth in the league with 1,230 rushing yards and scored nine total touchdowns.

But now that the Seahawks signed Carlos Hyde, Carson’s fantasy football value takes a big hit.

Sports Illustrated’s fantasy football analyst Corey Parson breaks down Carson and Hyde’s fantasy value heading into 2020.

Kaitlin O'Toole: Sports Illustrated is taking you inside the world of Fantasy sports. Joining me now is SI's fantasy and gambling analyst Corey Parson. Corey, let's talk about Carlos Hyde. How did the Seahawks plan to use him this season?

Corey Parson: Well, I basically think that Carlos Hyde will be the guy the Seahawks use not really so much as a change of pace back, but I think his real value to the Seattle Seahawks comes as injury insurance. Right now, their running back Rashaad Penny is all banged up. It looks like he can not be ready for the start of the season. They also drafted University of Miami running back DeeJay Dallas. Chris Carson is going to be the main guy to lead, the go-to guy in my opinion. So basically, I think Carlos Hyde is some injury insurance for the upcoming season. I wouldn't worry about him taking too much of a role in the backfield.

Kaitlin O'Toole: So let's talk about fantasy. I'm guessing he probably wouldn't be the back to own, so who would be the back you want on your fantasy team?

Corey Parson: The back you want on your fantasy team is going to be Chris Carson. Right now in early draft he's going off the board at about the 21st running back. If that slips because of them bringing in Carlos Hyde, I would definitely jump onto him. Last year, Carson had 287 carries. He ran for over 1,200 yards and had seven touchdowns. He even caught close to 40 passes, too. So I think he's a guy that could be a running back to this year, even with the additions in the backfield. I also would take a late round fly and maybe a stash of cash on our DeeJay Dallas who came in from the University of Miami. But definitely Chris Carson is the back to own in this situation.

Kaitlin O'Toole: Corey, thank you so much for your insight, appreciate it. For all the latest fantasy and gambling analysis, stay with SI.com.
