Quarterbacks drafted in the first round rarely get a redshirt year in the NFL. But considering both the Bears and Patriots have capable veteran quarterbacks on the roster, it begs the question if Justin Fields and Mac Jones will buck that trend. The Bears traded up to take Fields with the 11th overall pick but signed Andy Dalton this offseason and still have Nick Foles on the roster. The Patriots grabbed the Alabama passer with the 15th overall selection but resigned Cam Newton to a one-year contract.
