Vikings vs. Packers Predictions Roundup

Inactives

Will's pick: Packers 27, Vikings 24

I want to be optimistic here and predict a Vikings victory, but I just can't bring myself to do it. The lack of home-field advantage with no fans hurts. The lack of Danielle Hunter hurts even more. The Vikings are talented and have good coaching, but there are too many unknowns – most notably their young cornerback group going against Aaron Rodgers. I'm also very worried about how the interior offensive line will hold up. Garrett Bradbury struggled against Kenny Clark and the Packers last year, and the Vikings somehow managed to get worse at guard this offseason.

Live Updates

Final: Packers 43, Vikings 34

Fourth quarter

Packers 36, Vikings 18

10:02 That's the fourth passing touchdown of the day for Rodgers. He finds Lazard. That should do it.

Packers 29, Vikings 18

13:53 Cousins takes a shot and finds Adam Thielen in the back of the end zone for a 37-yard touchdown. Dalvin Cook punches in the two-point conversion. This one isn't over, but the Vikings need a stop.

Packers 29, Vikings 10

Third quarter

0:09 Another touchdown for Davante Adams and this one is all but over.

7:25 Vikings get bailed out by a Valdes-Scantling drop on third down and will get the ball back. Gotta get some offense going here.

Halftime: Packers 22, Vikings 10

Second quarter

0:00 A nice run by Alexander Mattison and a pass to Kyle Rudolph (plus a defensive penalty) gets the Vikings in field goal range before half.

Packers 22, Vikings 7

0:14 The Packers capitalize with a 45-yard touchdown from Rodgers to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Rookie Cameron Dantzler was burned in coverage.

0:25 Two plays later, Cousins is intercepted by Jaire Alexander and the Packers could look to add to their lead before halftime. Kenny Clark came up limping after the play.

Packers 15, Vikings 7

0:39 That's vintage Aaron Rodgers. He rolls to the right and finds Davante Adams at the side of the end zone for a 24-yard touchdown. Adams goes over 100 yards in the first half.

2:00 After a Vikings three-and-out, the Packers are once again putting together a slow drive. The Vikings defense will look to hold them out of the end zone before half.

Packers 8, Vikings 7

8:08 The Vikings stuff the Packers in the red zone AGAIN. Pressure from Ifeadi Odenigbo forces Aaron Rodgers to throw the ball away on third down and they're forced to settle for another field goal. That's three trips into the red zone for Green Bay with just six points to show for it. They do re-take the lead, though.

Vikings 7, Packers 5

11:39 I guess that's why you go for it on 4th and goal from the 1. The Packers just sacked Kirk Cousins in the end zone on a cornerback blitz from Jaire Alexander and it's a safety.

12:19 The Vikings' defense in the red zone has been a lot better than their defense in the rest of the field. They stuff the Packers at the goal line and force an incompletion on fourth down to get the ball back.

First quarter

Vikings 7, Packers 3

3:24 That was easy for the Vikings! They marched down the field for a touchdown on their first offensive possession of the series. Two catches for 32 yards for Adam Thielen to start the drive, and then a lot of running the ball. Dalvin Cook punches it in from short yardage for his first TD of the year.

Packers 3, Vikings 0

7:27 The Packers get on the board first. They took the opening kickoff and moved the ball methodically downfield, although they were aided by some errors by the Vikings defense. Ifeadi Odenigbo committed a penalty that gave the Packers a first down, and Cameron Dantzler and Eric Wilson missed open-field tackles. The defense stiffens in the red zone and holds the Packers to a field goal.
