Penguins' Talbot out for five months

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Maxime Talbot will miss training camp and the beginning of the season after having surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Talbot scored both goals in Pittsburgh's 2-1 victory in Game 7 against Detroit in the Stanley Cup finals last month.

Penguins general manager Ray Shero said in a statement that Talbot has played with the injury "for quite a while." Talbot's recovery will take four to five months.

Talbot has 42 goals and 80 points in 261 career NHL games.

The surgery was performed Tuesday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
