Avalanche sign Duchene to three-year entry deal

DENVER (AP) -- The Colorado Avalanche have signed first-round draft choice Matt Duchene to a three-year contract.

The team announced the deal Thursday for the 18-year-old Duchene. He was the No. 3 overall pick and the Avalanche's highest selection since the franchise moved to Colorado in 1995.

He recently finished his second season with Brampton of the Ontario Hockey League, where he had 31 goals and 48 assists in 57 games.
