NHL suspends Deryk Engelland of Penguins five games
NEW YORK (AP) -- Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Deryk Engelland was suspended for five games without pay by the NHL on Wednesday for a check to the head of Detroit forward Justin Abdelkader.
Engelland was given a match penalty for hitting Abdelkader in the first period of Pittsburgh's 4-1 road victory Saturday night. The suspension will cost Engelland $14,530.
