Rich Peverley, Stars medical staff greeted with standing ovation at AAC

By Mike McMahon

On Friday night, just days after suffering a cardiac event and collapsing on the bench, Dallas Stars forward Rich Peverley returned to the American Airlines Center and was given a hero's welcome -- as were his doctors.

During the first television timeout of Friday's game against the Calgary Flames, the Stars' public address announcer  took time to thank the doctors at UT Southwestern Medical Center and the Stars medical staff as Peverley stood in the team suite above the ice and applauded. The fans gave a standing ovation as players on both teams banged their sticks against the boards to honor Peverley and those who helped save the 31-year-old's life.
