Philadelphia Flyers star center Claude Giroux was arrested in Ottawa on Tuesday and spent the night in jail for allegedly repeatedly grabbing the buttocks of a male police officer, reports the Ottawa Sun.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.

According to the paper, the police refused to comment directly on Giroux unless charges are filed, and sources told the Sun that Giroux is expected to be released Wednesday without being charged with any crime.

Giroux, a native of Hearst, Ontario, fought through a scoring slump at the beginning of the year last season but went on to have another excellent campaign for the Flyers.

The center was a finalist for the Hart Trophy for the first time in his career, tallying 28 goals and 58 assists in 82 games.
