Drug testing and an education program will be implemented all for American Hockey League players starting next season, the National Hockey League and AHL announced.

The league said the AHL program will “substantially replicate” what is already in place for the NHL players through the league's collective bargaining agreement.

The same doctors that supervise the NHL/NHLPA Performance-Enhancing Substances Program and the Substance Abuse/Behavioral Health Program will also handle the administration of the AHL test program, the league said.
