Alex Ovechkin becomes Capitals' all-time leading scorer
Alex Ovechkin has bagged another Washington Capitals franchise record, surpassing Peter Bondra as the team's all-time scoring leader.

Ovechkin set the new mark on Tuesday night when he earned his 826th career point with a first period assist on Nicklas Backstrom's goal against the Calgary Flames. He later added a helper on Joel Ward's second period tally to up his total to 827. What took Bondra 961 games in 14 seasons to do, Ovechkin has done in just 691 games while in his 10th season with the Capitals.

Washington's captain also comfortably holds the Capitals' records for power play goals (154), shots (3,493), and goals per game (0.62). Bondra still holds the franchise marks for goals (472), shorthanded goals (32) and game-winners (73).
