Derek Stepan returns to Rangers' lineup

TORONTO (AP) Derek Stepan returned to the New York Rangers' lineup Saturday night against Toronto after missing the first 12 games of the season because of a broken left leg.

Stepan fractured his left fibula in a preseason game.

''He's been chewing my ears off for about a week here to get back playing,'' coach Alain Vigneault said. ''We've just been really smart about this, being on the safe side.''

Stepan moved into the No. 2 center spot on a line with Chris Kreider and Mats Zuccarello.

Stepan had 17 goals and 40 assists last season.
