Must-See: Red Wings prospect uses glass like backboard to score goal

Video: Ryan Sproul of the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins fires a slap shot off the glass and Lake Erie's goalie to score a goal.

After six straight losses, the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins were a team that desperately needed a bounce to go their way.

They finally got one last night.

Ryan Sproul's long slap shot flew over the head of Lake Erie Monsters goaltender Calvin Pickard, ricocheted off the end glass, off the keeper's back and then trickled over the goal line ... no doubt exactly as the Griffins had worked on it in practice.

The goal was the first of the season for Detroit's top defensive prospect and stood up as the winner as the Griffins knocked off the Monsters, 5-3.
