Detroit Red Wings center Stephen Weiss sustained a separated shoulder on Friday against the Florida Panthers, but the injury is not believed to be serious, according to The Detroit Free Press

Weiss is day-to-day, but Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told The Free Press that he may end up missing several games.

Since Weiss joined the Red Wings prior to the 2013-14 season, he has dealt with a slew of injuries. He spent most of last season on the sideline, and this season he has continued to fight through a series of ailments.

Weiss returned to the Red Wings' lineup on Nov. 24, tallying 10 points in 10 games since then.

Detroit plays at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. Entering Saturday evening, the Red Wings were tied with the Lightning on top of the Atlantic Division with 41 points apiece.
