TORONTO (AP) The Toronto Maple Leafs are placing forward Joffrey Lupul on the injured list due to the lower-body injury sustained in a shootout victory over Boston on New Year's Eve.

Lupul, injured in the second period Wednesday night, is returning to Toronto for further evaluation, the team says Thursday. The veteran left wing has nine goals and eight assists in 26 games this season.

Fellow forward Peter Holland sustained an upper-body injury during Wednesday's game and will also undergo further evaluation in Toronto. He has eight goals and eight assists in 38 games.

The Maple Leafs recalled forward Greg McKegg from the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. He has seven goals and eight assists in 23 AHL games this season.
